How much is the deep freezer price in nigeria for a 200-liter to 250-liter chest freezer meant for a small frozen food business?

I am planning to start a small frozen food business from my home, selling chicken, fish, and turkey to my neighbors. To start, I need a very reliable chest freezer with a capacity of around 200 to 250 liters. The most important feature for me is cooling retention, as power outages are frequent and I cannot afford for my stock to spoil. What is the current deep freezer price in nigeria for highly rated brands like Thermocool, Scanfrost, and LG? I have heard that Thermocool retains ice for up to 100 hours without electricity. Is this true, and does the price justify this feature? I need honest recommendations from business owners.

For a frozen food business, knowing the current deep freezer price in nigeria is crucial, but knowing which brand to buy is even more important. A 200-liter to 250-liter chest freezer from top-tier brands will cost you between 280,000 and 380,000 Naira. The undisputed king of freezers in Nigeria is Thermocool (specifically their Haier Thermocool line). The rumors you heard are absolutely true; their premium models feature extra-thick polyurethane insulation. If the electricity goes off, a fully stocked Thermocool freezer will keep your chicken and fish frozen solid for up to 100 hours, provided you do not open the lid constantly. For a business where product spoilage means lost money, spending 350,000 Naira on a Thermocool is a necessary insurance policy. Scanfrost is a great budget alternative at around 260,000 Naira, but their cooling retention is closer to 48 hours.

As someone who runs a cold room business, I want to add some vital advice beyond just the deep freezer price in nigeria. Whatever freezer you buy, you must understand how compressor cooling works. Never buy an Upright (standing) freezer for a frozen food business. Cold air is heavier than warm air. Every time you open the door of a standing freezer to serve a customer, all the cold air spills out onto the floor, forcing the compressor to work overtime to cool it back down. With a chest freezer, the cold air stays trapped inside like water in a bathtub when you open the lid. Also, ensure you buy a heavy-duty stabilizer. The voltage fluctuations when public power is restored will fry your freezer compressor instantly if it is plugged directly into the wall socket.

I use two 250L Scanfrost chest freezers for my meat shop. They cost me 275k each. They freeze incredibly fast. Just make sure you leave space around the freezer vents for heat to escape, otherwise the compressor will fail.

LG freezers are excellent and very quiet, but they are very sensitive to low voltage. If your area suffers from low current, stick to Thermocool; their compressors are built like tanks for the Nigerian environment.

When stocking the freezer, do not pack the items too tightly against the inner walls. Air needs to circulate around the frozen foods to maintain an even temperature everywhere inside the cabinet.
