The standard motorcycle used for this business is the Bajaj Boxer 100 because of its low fuel consumption and ruggedness. What is the average motorcycle price in nigeria today for a brand new Bajaj Boxer straight from the crate? Besides the purchase price, how much does it cost to completely register the bike with the local government, get the dispatch box fitted, and obtain the necessary rider permits? Are brands like Qlink or TVS better alternatives for dispatch work compared to Bajaj?

For a dispatch and logistics business, the average motorcycle price in nigeria for a brand new Bajaj Boxer 100 or Boxer 150 currently ranges from 950,000 to 1.2 Million Naira. The price has escalated heavily, but the Bajaj Boxer remains the absolute gold standard for dispatch riders. It is nicknamed the "Indestructible" for a reason. The engine is air-cooled, incredibly simple, and can run for years on terrible engine oil without knocking. Its suspension is designed to carry heavy cargo, and it sips petrol so efficiently that your dispatch riders will not complain about fuel costs eating into their daily profits. Qlink is cheaper (around 700,000 Naira) but their engine components wear out much faster under the stress of Lagos traffic.

When setting up a logistics business, the motorcycle price in nigeria is just the baseline. The regulatory and setup costs in Lagos are exceptionally high and must be factored into your capital. You must purchase a high-quality fiberglass dispatch box and mount it securely (about 45,000 Naira). You need to register the bike commercially, which includes getting the vehicle license, MOT, and hackney permit. Most importantly, you must register your company with NIPOST (Nigerian Postal Service) for a courier license, and get the Lagos State MOT dispatch permit. I run a dispatch company with 5 bikes. Buy the Bajaj Boxer 150 instead of the 100. The 150cc engine has much more power for carrying heavy packages and climbing the bridges in Lagos without struggling.

TVS HLX is also a fantastic alternative to Bajaj. It is slightly more comfortable for the rider because the seat is thicker, and the engine is very smooth. It costs about the same as the Bajaj.

Do not give the brand new bikes to the riders without buying massive steel chains and padlocks. Motorcycle theft is extremely high. Tell them to chain the wheel to a pole whenever they go inside a building to deliver a package.
