However, for a reservoir engineer in Lagos, it remains a highly technical and rewarding environment. The operational focus has shifted slightly from aggressive new exploration to maximizing production from existing mature assets. This requires brilliant reservoir engineering, meaning your skills will be highly valued and heavily utilized. The staff morale is stabilizing after the transition period. The new management structure is very keen on retaining top technical talent to ensure uninterrupted production.

The employee benefits at Addax Petroleum have always been in the elite tier, and that has not changed significantly. The salary structure is massive, paid partially in foreign currency equivalents. The medical benefits, offshore hazard allowances, and pension schemes are spectacular. The working environment in Victoria Island is very professional and calm. While they might not be drilling wildcat exploration wells like they used to, the engineering challenges of managing complex, mature reservoirs are intellectually stimulating. Job security for core technical staff like reservoir engineers is extremely high because you are the brain behind the asset profitability.

I am a petroleum engineer here. The transition caused some panic, but the dust has settled. We are still producing heavily, and the salaries are still dropping exactly on time.

The technical software and tools we use are still top-of-the-line. The management knows that without the subsurface team, the company stops making money. You will be treated like royalty.
