My experience using the Innoson G5 as a daily driver has been surprisingly impressive

As a proud Nigerian, I decided to patronize our local automotive industry and purchased a brand new Innoson IVM G5 SUV for my daily commute. I have been driving it for eight months now, and I am genuinely impressed. The engine is very responsive, the ground clearance is perfect for Lagos potholes, and the suspension absorbs shocks beautifully. The interior space is massive and very comfortable for long family trips. However, the interior finishing needs improvement. The dashboard plastics feel a bit cheap and scratch easily, and the infotainment screen software is quite laggy compared to modern Toyota or Hyundai vehicles. But overall, it is a very rugged and reliable vehicle. The best part is that whenever I need a minor part, the factory sends it directly without expensive import delays. Proud of IVM.

I am so glad to see an honest review of an Innoson vehicle. I have been considering buying the IVM G5 for my wife. Knowing that the spare parts are readily available directly from Nnewi is a massive selling point.

The interior plastics are definitely the weakest link. They look like designs from 2010. If Innoson can hire better interior designers and upgrade the dashboard materials, they will completely dominate the Nigerian market.

Many people do not know that Innoson engines are actually manufactured by Mitsubishi. The engines are incredibly reliable and proven workhorses. You are basically driving a rebranded Japanese engine with a Nigerian-built body.

The government needs to mandate that all civil service directors and politicians use Innoson vehicles as their official cars. That is the only way the company can get enough capital to improve their interior finishing and compete globally.

How is the resale value? My biggest fear is that if I buy a brand new Innoson for 20 Million Naira today, nobody will want to buy it from me in the second-hand market in three years, unlike a Toyota Corolla which sells instantly.
